Transition Networks Enables Secure Ethernet Fiber Connections for Wireless Computing Devices with New Scorpion-USB™ 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Adapter
New USB Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Adapter Accommodates High Bandwidth Services Faster, Further, and More Securely than Copper or Wireless Transmission
Minneapolis, MN – May 9th, 2016 — Transition Networks, Inc., a leading provider of innovative, high-value data network integration solutions, today announced its Scorpion-USB™ 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet fiber adapter, which enables laptops, tablets or other devices that do not have a fiber port to connect to a fiber-based Ethernet network through a USB port. The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connector transfers data up to 10 times faster than a USB 2.0 connector and is backward compatible.
Because it enables EMI-secure transmission of data over fiber cabling, the Scorpion-USB™ fiber adapter is ideal for use within organizations such as government agencies, which prohibit or restrict wireless transmission due to security concerns. Enterprise organizations that want to capitalize on the bandwidth of fiber at or near the desktop can also benefit from the Scorpion-USB™ adapter as it provides a high speed fiber LAN connection for streaming media applications, where wireless transmission can be slow or suffer from interference. The adapter is also very effective in university or corporate campus applications, where copper cabling lacks the required bandwidth, distance or security for sharing data-intensive files over the network.
“By providing a fiber Ethernet connection between a switch and an USB port on a laptop or notebook, the Scorpion-USB™ adapter allows users to fully capitalize on the bandwidth, distance and security of Gigabit Ethernet transmission over fiber using devices that don’t already have built-in fiber access,” said Tony LeFebvre of Transition Networks. “The Scorpion-USB™ 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Adapter is the ideal solution for use in data-intensive applications that require secure high bandwidth networks.”
A Scorpion-USB™ 2.0 adapter is also available for Fast Ethernet networks. Both versions offer plug-and-play installation for a simple and fast connection and are powered through the computing device’s USB port, eliminating the need for an external power supply. The lightweight adapters can be carried with a mobile computing device or secured at a fixed location. The Scorpion-USB™ adapters are TAA compliant.
